H.E. MARIAN JOCELYN R. TIROL-IGNACIO
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of the Philippinesto Brunei Darussalam
Ambassador Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio is a career diplomat. She passed the Foreign Service Officer examinations in 1995 and entered the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in June 1996.
At the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Tirol-Ignacio held various positions, including serving twice at the Office of ASEAN Affairs and the Office of the United Nations and Other International Organizations (UNIO).
Her foreign assignments include Stockholm, Sweden (from Third Secretary and Vice Consul to First Secretary and Consul) and Tokyo, Japan (as Chargé d’ Affaires, a.i. from 1 July to 21 November 2016 and as Minister and Consul General from 29 March 2021 to 24 April 2018).
Prior to assuming as Ambassador of the Philippines to Brunei Darussalam, she was the Deputy Assistant Secretary and Executive Director of the Office of ASEAN Affairs at the Department of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Tirol-Ignacio holds a Bachelor in Interior Design and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology degree from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. She was in the 1999-2000 Foreign Service Program and earned a Certificate in Diplomatic Studies and Spanish Language at the University of Oxford.
She is married to Ambassador Josel F. Ignacio, the Head of the Embassy of the Philippines in New Delhi, India.
