The Embassy of the Republic of the Philippines in Brunei Darussalam, in collaboration with the Brunei Art Forum, will hold an art exhibit entitled “Illuminare” at the Malay Technology Museum in Kota Batu.

The exhibit, which will be open to the public on 16 to 19 January, shall showcase the art works of Mr. Pancho Piano, a painter, abstractionist, muralist, and a multi- awarded Filipino artist known for his stained glass art works.

Mr. Piano shall also conduct an art clinic, with the theme, “The Art of Pancho Piano, 30 years in art making, murals and stainglass designs,” for art enthusiasts on Thursday, 16 January 2014. Sessions shall be conducted twice: at 9:00 a.m. — 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. — 4:00 p.m.

These activities are being held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam and as personal initiative of Mr. Piano’s to support the victims of Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

Mr. Piano has offered to donate to the victims of Typhoon Haiyan a portion of the proceeds from the sale of his art work.

Admission to the exhibit is free. Participation in the art clinic is also free of charge; however, participants are expected to pre-register and bring their own art materials such as acrylic paints, oslo papers, soft pastels, and canvas.
