Filipino artists and cartoonists in Brunei Darussalam are invited to join a comic strip competition being organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Philippine Komiks Convention (KOMIKON), in collaboration with the United Nations and other International Office of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA-UNIO).
The comic strip competition is in line with the 10th anniversary of KOMIKON.
The competition aims to promote the “Building Back Safer” rehabilitation concept of IOM to help the communities in the Visayas affected by Typhoon Yolanda (international name: Haiyan).
The comic strip should feature a main character:
• He/she might be a Barangay Captain in a community that frequently gets affected by natural disasters and
• The comic element is the way this character deals with government/humanitarian agencies.
The rules of the competition are as follows:
• Contest is open to all cartoonists both amateurs and professionals
• Contestants/groups are limited to one entry only
• Entries should adhere to the given theme. Entries deviating from the theme shall be automatically disqualified
• Submit soft copies of a series of four comic strips on 3” x 10”, fully drawn with stories that could be disseminated weekly and
