Honorable Yasmin Busran-Lao, Secretary and Chief Executive Officer of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF), headed the delegation that visited Brunei Darussalam on 28-30 July 2015, together with other NCMF officials and representatives from the Zamboanga City Special Economic Zone Authority and Freeport (ZAMBOECOZONE) to meet with their Brunei counterpart agencies on a prospective cooperation in the Halal Industry.
The visit was a follow-up to the NCMF’s initial trip to Brunei in May 2015.
The delegation, accompanied by H.E. Meynardo LB. Montealegre and Philippine Embassy officials, paid courtesy calls on the Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, the State Mufti, and the Minister of Religious Affairs on 29 July 2015.
The delegation and said Brunei officials discussed possible areas of cooperation in the Halal Industry and other matters significant to Filipino muslims.
The officials also met with officials from the Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources (MIPR) headed by its Permanent Secretary, Yang Mulia Hajah Normah Suria Hayati, to discuss in detail the possible areas of cooperation.
The delegation also toured the Brunei’s BioInnovation Corridor site in Kampong Tungku on 30 July 2015. END
