The Philippine contingent beaming with Filipino pride during the Grand Parade to commemorate the 38th National Day of Brunei Darussalam.

 

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Clad in vibrant royal blue Filipino-Muslim inspired attires, the Filipino community in Brunei participated in the Grand Parade marking the 38th Anniversary of the National Day of Brunei Darussalam held at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saiffuddien in Bandar Seri Begawan on 23 February 2022.

 

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, presided over the celebratory event, joined by members of the Royal Family, Government Ministers and senior officials. 

 

Philippine Ambassador-designate Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio, together with Defense and Armed Forces Attaché Col. Angelo Gerard P. Ariles, joined other members of the Diplomatic Corps in witnessing the parade.

 

This year’s celebration focused on the theme "Menjayakan Wawasan Negara' or “Succeeding in the National Vision” that gives holistic emphasis on all levels of society, especially the youth, in playing a role towards accomplishing the national vision 'Wawasan Negara 2035'.

 

The event was attended by close to 3,800 participants from various sectors of Brunei, such as civil servants, military and police establishments, non-profit organizations, community associations, business and industries as well as a COVID-19 front-liners team of doctors and nurses and youth volunteers. 

 

For the public’s health and safety, the Grand Parade was celebrated in accordance with strict protocols, such as mandatory ART testing at all entry points to the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar ‘Ali Saiffuddien, body temperature checks, and wearing of face masks by all parade participants and guests.

 

The Philippine Embassy organized the Filipino community’s participation in the National Day event, including the provision of attires and refreshments for the 37-member Philippine contingent. END
