Bandar Seri Begawan, 29 March 2022 - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam launched “Health Corner 4 All”, a pioneering initiative that aims to empower Filipinos to care for their health by providing them free use of basic medical equipment at the Philippine Embassy while they avail of consular services.

“Health Corner 4 All” is a collaboration with the Philippine Nurses Association - Brunei Chapter (PNA-Brunei). It was launched on 29 March 2022 on the occasion of the last #PurpleTuesday of International Women’s Month.

“Health Corner 4 All'' provides the free use of blood pressure monitors, a weighing scale, and oximeters. It also shares information that promotes health and prevents premature death, disease, and disability.

In her message during the launch, Philippine Ambassador Marian Jocelyn Tirol-Ignacio, highlighted the importance of receiving preventive care and identifying early symptoms of lifestyle diseases such as hypertension and obesity. “Through the Health Corner, the Philippine Embassy takes advantage of the presence of Filipinos, availing of essential consular services, to encourage them to manage their health and help them detect or prevent serious diseases and medical problems before they become worse.” She also encouraged everyone to use the medical equipment in the Health Corner and to see a doctor if the results taken from the Health Corner worry and cause them concern.

The initiative is part of the Embassy’s regular Gender and Development (GAD) activities that promote gender and development issues as well as its mission to promote the welfare of overseas Filipinos in Brunei Darussalam.
