President Ferdinand Romualdez Marcos, Jr. meets His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, at the sidelines of the ASEAN leaders meeting in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.

President Marcos expressed confidence on the future of PH-Brunei relations which is anchored on a solid foundation and looked forward to potential partnerships as the Philippines positions itself in ASEAN during post-pandemic recovery. The President extended an invitation to His Majesty The Sultan to visit the Philippines again.

His Majesty The Sultan fondly recalled the visit of former President Ferdinand Marcos Sr. in 1984 during Brunei’s first national day. Since then, bilateral relations have grown at all levels and his majesty hoped to deepen friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and Brunei. Likewise, His Majesty The Sultan invited the President for a visit to Brunei.
