Ambassador Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio was delighted to meet Ms. Munji Athirah, and Ms. Siti Kamaluddin, co-founders of the Mahakarya Institute of the Arts Asia, and its Dean, Dr. Alex Fischer, yesterday.
They discussed opportunities for collaboration in the promotion of the creative industries which includes films, documentaries, animation, among others, of both the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam.
The Philippine Embassy celebrated the 100 Years of Philippine Cinema in collaboration with the Institute in 2018. As part of the Brunei Film Blitz, three films from the Philippines were screened, namely Kakabakaba Ka Ba?, Kita-Kita and Sonata.
All screenings were presented by Jollibee Brunei and supported by the Sentro Rizal PH, the Film Development Council of the Philippines, the National Commission for Culture and the Arts and ABS-CBN.
The Embassy, through its Sentro Rizal, hopes to provide opportunities for trainings and workshops conducted by renowned Filipino film makers to the young talents of the Brunei film industry. END
