The Philippine Embassy through the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) conducted a cooking demonstration on Muffin Baking to Women of Destiny International Group, held at the residence of the Philippine Ambassador to Brunei at Manggis District on Sunday, 10 July 2011.

Mrs. Tomasa “Mayie” Ochoa, wife of Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Nestor Z. Ochoa, welcomed the Women of Destiny International Group to their residence, headed by Mrs. Josephine Chin.

The group organized the cooking demonstration through the assistance of Philippine Embassy Cultural Officer Eleonor Belgica.

The activity aimed to develop and enhance women’s homemaking skills.

OWWA Welfare Officer Zenaida S. Ramos served as the Resource Person during the cooking demonstration.

Welof Ramos demonstrated the step by step procedure on making basic muffin and added some variations and tips to make the muffin fluffy and soft.

There were four (4) muffin recipes cooked during the demonstration namely: banana and chocolate chips muffin, sweet corn muffin, banana muffin, and orange muffin.

The participants were given actual hands-on training in preparing the muffins and enjoyed tasting the cooked muffins for dessert.

The women also requested the Philippine Embassy more training sessions on practical activities such as these.

A total of twenty (20) participants attended the cooking demonstration.
