BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 10 June 2019 – Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III visited Brunei Darussalam to attend its Hari Raya Eid’l Fitr celebration from 04 to 06 June 2019, upon the invitation of the Government of Brunei Darussalam.

On 05 June 2019, Secretary Dominguez held an audience with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, during which he handed the letter of President Duterte on the occasion of this year’s Aidil Fitri celebrations.    

Secretary Dominguez, together with the new Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Christopher B. Montero, attended the traditional Hari Raya event to greet His Majesty The Sultan and members of the Royal Family at the Istana Nurul Iman (Royal Palace).

Secretary Dominguez and Ambassador Montero also joined the Open Houses of Royalties and high-ranking Brunei government officials including His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah; Special Adviser to His Majesty The Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam and Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office Pehin Orang Kaya Laila Setia Bakti Di-Raja Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Isa bin Pehin Datu Perdana Manteri Dato Laila Utama Haji Awang Ibrahim; Private and Confidential Secretary to His Majesty The Sultan Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Mohd. Nawawi bin Allahyarham Pehin Orang Kaya Shahbandar Haji Awang Mohd. Taha; and Speaker of the Legislative Council Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Lela Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Abdul Rahman bin Dato Setia Haji Mohamed Taib.

Secretary Dominguez’ attendance at the Hari Raya celebrations reaffirms the fraternal bonds of friendship and close ties between the Philippines and Brunei. END
