BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 27 June 2019 — With the main aim of empowering overseas Filipinos, the Philippine Embassy in Brunei, through the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and the Overseas Worker Welfare Administration (OWWA) Office, commenced the conduct of its Basic Computer Training (BCT) seminar for Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) on 23 June 2019. The course is the third BCT in Brunei organized by POLO-OWWA.

The BCT is part of POLO-OWWA’s Reintegration Program, which provides additional knowledge on basic computer and internet concepts to participants. The training intends to equip OFWs in Brunei with skills that they can apply in their present jobs or upon their return to the Philippines.

Of the 40 OFWs enrolled in the training, 14 are household service workers, 19 are skilled workers and seven are professionals. The participants are divided into two (2) classes of twenty (20) students each. Mr. Dennis Tanjusay and Ms. Faten Amira Izzaty binti Joperi are the instructors of each class.

The BCT will run for five (5) consecutive Sundays until 21 July 2019 at the Cosmopolitan College of Commerce & Technology Sdn. Bhd. in Berakas, Bandar Seri Begawan.

POLO-OWWA Brunei’s first BCT was conducted from October to November 2018 while the second one was held from April to May 2019. END
