BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 19 July 2019 – Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III and his spouse Cynthia A. Dominguez joined high-level foreign dignitaries in greeting His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam on the occasion of his 73rd birth anniversary on 15 July 2019.
In an audience at the Istana Nurul Iman (Royal Palace), Secretary Dominguez handed a letter to His Majesty containing the birthday greetings and wishes of President Rodrigo Roa Duterte. He likewise thanked His Majesty for the continuing hospitality extended by his government to overseas Filipinos in the country. His Majesty acknowledged the valuable contributions of Filipino workers in Bruneian society and affirmed his commitment to ensure that they are always well taken care of.
Accompanied by Philippine Ambassador to Brunei, Christopher B. Montero, Secretary and Mrs. Dominguez attended the day-long festivities that included a Guard of Honor Parade, an Awarding and Investiture Ceremony, and a Royal Banquet.
Secretary and Mrs. Dominguez were joined by other high-ranking foreign dignitaries who were invited as official guests of the Brunei government.
The participation of a high-ranking Philippine official at His Majesty’s birth anniversary celebrations reflects and reaffirms the fraternal and close ties between the people of the Philippines and Brunei Darussalam. END
