18 August 2019, Bandar Seri Begawan - The Philippine Embassy in Brunei Darussalam, through the initiatives of the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) and the Overseas Worker Welfare Administration Office (OWWA), held commencement exercises on 18 August for the third batch of graduates of the Basic Computer Training Course and Basic Baking Course at the Cosmopolitan College of Commerce and Technology campus.

A total of eighty-two (82) Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) completed the two (2) training courses. Two classes composed of thirty-six (36) OFWs finished the Basic Computer Training - one class participated in by Household Service Workers (HSWs) was taught by Mr. Dennis Tanjusay while another class participated in by Skilled Workers was handled by Ms. Faten Amira Izzaty Binti Joperi. For the Basic Baking Course, three classes were conducted by Mr. Abegael L. Vinluan with a total of forty-six (46) OFWs. Recipes of red velvet cake, carrot cake, pandesal, chocolate chunk cookies and chocolate chip cookies were taught during their hands-on training.
During the ceremony, two OFW-graduates from each class of Basic Computer Training and Basic Baking Course namely, Ms. Ginalyn L. Torio, Ms. Jennifer O. Alca, Ms. Nikki G. Madera and Ms. Violeta L. Corpuz delivered their testimonies. They expressed their gratitude to the Philippine Embassy for the opportunity to learn new skills, broaden their knowledge, and enhance their confidence in their workplaces.
Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam congratulated the graduates and encouraged them to continuously learn and enhance their skills with the end goal of eventually returning to the Philippines. Labor Attaché Melissa Mendizabal welcomed the OFW graduates and gave a brief overview of the next livelihood trainings/seminars that will be offered by the POLO-OWWA Office of the Philippine Embassy.
The Basic Computer Training Course as well as the Basic Baking Course is part of the Reintegration Preparedness Program of the Philippine Government for OFWs. These programs intend to give additional livelihood skills to Filipinos in Brunei, especially to Household Service Workers. END
