Members of the Filipino community avail of frontline services during the 4th offering of the Philippine Embassy’s Sunday Consular Services.

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, 03 May 2021. The Philippine Embassy opened its doors anew to the Filipino community for the 4th offering of its Sunday Consular Services in 2021 on 02 May 2021 at the Chancery.

A total of one hundred fifty (150) individuals availed of frontline services, which the Embassy holds every first Sunday of the month to provide frontline services to Filipinos in the Sultanate, especially for Household Service Workers, during their “day-off.”

Aside from consular services, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office-Overseas Worker’s Welfare Administration (POL)-OWWA, SSS and Pag-IBIG Fund were also open to provided services to OFWs.

On the other hand, a total of 25 qualified Filipinos registered for Overseas Voting (OV) while 17 were issued Filipino Citizen Registration Cards (FCRC).

A number of those who availed of services offered by the Embassy came from the Kuala Belait District, located approximately 125 kms. from the capital (1 and ½ hours by land), as travelling to the Embassy during the work week means taking a leave from work for one whole day.

In conjunction with the Sunday Consular Services, a Financial Literacy Forum was conducted by the Embassy’s partner agencies (POLO-OWWA, SSA and Pag-IBIG) on financial-related services to assist OFWs in achieving their personal financial goals. A total of 56 OFWs, mostly household service workers, participated in the Forum.

The next Sunday Consular Services is scheduled to be held on 13 June 2021.END
