BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN – Filipino students, aged between 7 to 16 years old, participated in a beach clean-up activity at the Pantai Berakas as part of the Filipino Language and Cultural Enrichment Program (FLCEP) of the Sentro Rizal-Brunei under the Embassy of the Philippines and the Philippine National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Collaborating with the Embassy in this activity is the AdvocaLAW (Land, Air and Water), composed of youth leaders in Brunei Darussalam that advocates for sustainability and is supported by Sustainable Ocean Alliance Brunei (SOA). Telecommunications company, Progresif, was also at the event as a partner of AdvocaLAW and showcased eco-friendly and sustainable products to the participants.
The activity aimed to instill awareness on environmental sustainability to the children through exposure at an early age, and to inspire them, as future global leaders, to protect and conserve our planet’s oceans and seas.
The activity was organized by the Philippine Embassy in observance of the Maritime and Archipelagic Nation Awareness Month (MANA Mo) this September. MANA Mo is celebrated every year in the Philippines since 2017 to raise maritime and ocean awareness END
