A delegation from the Mindanao State University Tawi-Tawi College of Technology and Oceanography (MSU-TCTO) met with Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Darussalam Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio on 4 October 2022 following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between MSU-TCTO and Kolej Universiti Perguruan Ugama Seri Begawan (KUPU SB).

The MOU was signed on 2 October 2022 after the 12th Convocation of the KUPU SB which was graced by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Muʿizzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam. It establishes the cooperation and collaboration between the two institutions in the areas of joint research, scholarships, trainings and technical assistance, and exchanges of students, scholars, faculty, as well as scholarly and pedagogical materials, among others. The MOU was signed by MSU-TCTO Chancellor Dr Mary Joyce Z Guinto-Sali and KUPU SB Ra’es Dr. Hj Adanan Bin Hj Basar.

Ambassador Tirol-Ignacio welcomed the delegation and expressed hope that the MOU will pave the way for an expanded cooperation that will include areas in halal research and certification, madrasa exchanges, and maritime and sustainable development cooperation.

This is the second MOU of MSU-TCTO with a Brunei institution. MSU-TCTO inked an MOU with University Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) in 2020. END
