Philippine Embassy in Brunei engages in  fruitful dialogue during its call on  the Federation of Brunei Malay Entrepreneurs (PPPMB)

Bandar Seri Begawan- 29 March 2023 - Philippine Ambassador to Brunei Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio met with Dr. Haji Abdul Latif Bin Haji Chuchu, President of the Federation of Brunei Malay Entrepreneurs (Persekutuan Peniaga-Peniaga Melayu Brunei aka PPPMB), to discuss opportunities found in the business-to-business exchanges between the Philippines and Brunei and the expanding MSME sector of both nations.

Ambassador Tirol-Ignacio highlighted the importance of enhancing the economic cooperation between the Philippines and Brunei, particularly in the areas of trade and investment, and the significant potential for further growth and collaboration within the Brunei Darussalam-Indonesia-Malaysia- Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). 

Dr. Haji Abdul Latif Bin Haji Chuchu spoke of strengthening  partnerships with Brunei through  the PPPMB and committed to promoting closer economic ties between the two countries, particularly in the trade of agricultural products.

Ambassador Tirol-Ignacio invited Dr. Haji Abdul Latif Bin Haji Chuchu and members of the PPPMB to visit the Philippines and explore opportunities for establishing agricultural, livestock and farming linkages with Philippines, particularly in Mindanao and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). 

PPPMB aims to promote and strengthen Brunei's economy through supporting and enhancing entrepreneurial activity in Brunei. It has 553 members and 236 business entities. It envisions guiding and supporting Brunei entrepreneurs to achieve Wawasan (Brunei Vision) 2035 by increasing the status of Malay entrepreneurs to an international  level and uniting local business owners through trade and the promotion of commerce.   END
